Oncology Nursing Foundation Awards $250,500 in Funding for Oncology Nursing Students

(August 09, 2024) PITTSBURGH, PA –The Oncology Nursing Foundation is pleased to announce that it has awarded 42 academic scholarships to outstanding oncology nurses across the United States. With an allocation of $250,500 from the Foundation's endowment and special funds, the 2024-2025 academic scholarship program aims to support nurses in fulfilling their career and leadership potential. nursing. These scholarships, ranging from $3,000 to $7,500, will support students pursuing bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degrees, helping them achieve their educational and professional aspirations. 

“In support of cancer nursing excellence, we are incredibly proud to award 42 academic scholarships.” Angie Stengel, MS, CAE, executive director of the Oncology Nursing Foundation, said. “We know our recipients will leave a meaningful impression in our field, either in patient care, education, administration, or research.” 

All of this year’s scholarship recipients are advancing their education while continuing to work as oncology nurses.

“Receiving the Bachelors Scholarship through the Oncology Nursing Foundation will truly help me, as an investment in the future of my career. I am so honored to have been selected for this opportunity,” scholarship recipient Kaci Anderson, RN, said. “As a mother of two daughters, my goal is to be an example for them to see that we can do anything we set our hearts on. Again, I want to express my sincere gratitude for this award to allow me to continue working toward my goals.”

The Oncology Nursing Society created the Oncology Nursing Foundation in 1981 to accept charitable contributions to advance important activities on behalf of oncology nursing. The mission of the Oncology Nursing Foundation is to support oncology nursing excellence. Thanks to the generosity of individuals and institutions over the years, the Oncology Nursing Foundation has awarded more than $32 million in funding since its inception for oncology nursing education, research, and leadership development, giving nurses the opportunity to pursue excellence in delivering care to patients with cancer.
